Professional Standards. Podiatry is a profession that is highly regulated. Podiatrists /Chiropodists adhere to the strictest guidelines and rules on medical record keeping and client (patient) confidentiality.
Ongoing Continuous Professional Development. We are required to continually train and develop for our progression and our discipline of Podiatry. In Clinic I display certificates for completed courses and throughout the year attend best practice seminars and conferences. In addition I complete additional competency through webinars and online learning.
Doctor Relationship. When you visit a podiatrist you can be reassured that our medical knowledge can be used to raise concerns with other medical practitioners when a discovery is made appertaining to foot health. If your consent is received we will write to your GP with such findings.
Insurance. As a profession our governing body brokered an insurance policy that corresponds with our needs. Health Insurance Companies will only recognise an invoice for treatment if it is identified by a registered HCPC practitioner number.
Acquired Knowledge & Experience. A podiatrist trains for 3 plus years. An in depth knowledge of the foot is coupled with an equal confidence to use blades and other specialist instruments. I completed my training within the NHS and have carried on working within the NHS where I specialise in acute diabetic foot care. My Knowledge of this area of podiatry is deep and I bring to clinic a thorough understanding of complex foot health matters.
Teaching and Training. We are proud of our profession and proud to pass on our knowledge to others. In my role within the NHS I have acted as a mentor and teacher to numerous student podiatrists who have taken their skills out around the world.
Regulated. A proud Podiatrist will always identify themselves with the HCPC logo and CoP logo. The HCPC regulate and inspect podiatrists. Seeing the HCPC sign displayed on a website or clinic is evidence of a bona fide registered podiatrist.
Information. We take detailed medical information from you. A further requirement is that information is handled & collated confidentially for more than 7 years. Deva Podiatry is regulated by the ICO under GDPR. Records include medical information and images. In regards to children we have in place additional requirements to treatment of children.
Sterilisation & Sanitization. A differentiating part to podiatry when compared to nail bars was that our work even "when just cutting and filing nails" brought with it a requirement to ensure that our instruments (tools) were sterilised. Sterilised sets of tools were used for each patient. Post Covid and in addition to this reassurance we at Deva Podiatry have brought in to practice sanitization of the clinic in periods between patients appointments.
Total dedication to the foot. We specialise in the foot and only the foot. Your feet are vital for regulating many aspects of bodily function. Our training and knowledge means that we should be able to pick up early warnings of potential concern - just by " looking at your feet!!!
